Ice Cream for Dinner

I have to be honest. The VanNoord household runs a little differently when Julie’s away.

Tuesday, the girls and I were at an amusement park all day. We had had a big lunch, we had been on rides all day, and it was hot and humid. When dinnertime rolled around, none of us had much of an appetite.

But we were hot and sticky.

As we walked past the McDonalds inside the park, I asked if anybody wanted to do ice cream cones for dinner. The vote was unanimous, so McDonalds ice cream cones for dinner it was.

We are anxious for Julie to come home. We miss her. But it does mean that we will have to do dishes more than once every three day, no more sleeping with the bedsheets wadded up in a ball for me, and we’ll have to sort clothes into whites, colors and darks before doing a load of laundry.

Oh yeah, and probably no more dinners consisting completely of ice cream.

We love you Mommy. And we miss you. Please come home soon.

Octopus Cards

The girls and I have made a quest to find and catalogue all of the unusual places that we can swipe our Octopus cards. The more obvious ones are the trains, buses, and 7-Elevens.

When we were at Ocean Park amusement park, we discovered that we could swipe our card and make a $10 (US$1.25) donation to save the pandas. Even more strangely, we also could have swiped our card to play the ring toss game.

When a Carnie will swipe an Octopus card, we’re getting to the point where just about anybody and everybody is set up to take the card.

The Girls are now State-side

A&E made it safely to Chicago and are now recovering from jetlag.

My brother Nathan arrived from Detroit for his two week visit to Hong Kong.
