Then we settled in a five-hour, bone-jarring ride. Where I am from, you wait to open up a new road until it is finished. Not so in this part of China. The road was still in the process of being built but it was open for business. We arrived in our Lijiang just after the dinner hour a little dusty and a little tired, but no worse for the wear.
