Over the years, out of deference to my Jewish students, and my occasional Hindu and Muslim students at the public school in Lake Zurich, I trained myself to refer to it as “Winter Break.”Now that I teach in a Christian school, “Winter Break” seems a little unnecessarily vague. I’ve been trying to refer to it as Christmas break.
I haven’t always been successful.
A twenty-year habit is a hard one to break.
